Crime Time

This is criminal

With disgusted anticipation people have been fearing Moon would be completely overlooked at the Academy Awards, but this is down right upsetting.
If you have not had a chance to see Moon, please buy it and watch it.
It's one of the best sci fi's out there and simply an outstanding film in all respects.

Intentions

I have loads of intentions.
I will be getting back to more regular bits and pieces on here, just waiting for the pre holiday dust to settle.

Good news about Cigarette Burns in Feb as Ed & I have decided the film we are showing, but more on that later.
There's other good stuff brewing for the new year that we are excited about. I keep going on about it, but trust me it's worth it.

Kick Ass!!!!!

Today I fell in love.
I have fallen in love once or twice before, but never with an 11 year old girl. Wait... actually when I first saw Leon, I fell in love but I think Portman was 12, so maybe that's a bit more acceptable.
unfortunately, this girl isn't even 11 and a half. She's only just turned 11...
Now before I start getting reported or you all start slowly backing away from me next time I'm in the pub, let me show you this:

There is nothing, I repeated NOTHING about this trailer that doesn't excite me. Even Nick Cage doesn't undo this for me, and he tends to ruin most things. But no, Hit Girl is my new girlfriend, she may not know it yet, but she's mine.

I probably ought to through a little perspective on this.
Hit Girl is in the new film Kick Ass:
Kick-Ass tells the story of average teenager Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name -- Kick-Ass -- assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There's only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers.

His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, is hunted by assorted violent and unpleasant characters, and meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes, including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) - and forges a friendship with another fledging super hero, Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse). But thanks to the scheming of a local mob boss Frank D'Amico (Mark Strong), that new alliance will be put to the test.

Kick Ass looks great!

April 2nd, I am there - fuckin' bring it on!!!

Zombie-tastic!

Last night was an absolute blinder!
Ed and I had a great time and thank you all for showing up, kicking back and wading through a blood soaked evening with us.

Braindead went over better than we could have dreamed, especially after the Prince Charles Cinema showed it a week or two ago and caused me to have a mini panic.

But it seemed that everyone really enjoyed TNT's crazy claymation shorts, and understandably. They are no doubt the work of a genius, albeit a twisted genius.
As an added treat, I direct you to the Tokyo Scum Brigade and their translation of an interview with TNT himself.

At the moment, it looks like Cigarette Burns will return on 1st February. Sadly, we couldn't come to an agreement over when would be the best time for a holiday event, and saw very little sense in having a CBC on 4th January.
We may sneak something in along the way though, join the Facebook group or keep checking back here.

In the meantime, I will continue to update this blog regularly.
And either way, we have a great new year ahead of us!!!

Here's a little something I have yet to find a film that is appropriate, but this may be one of my all time favourite shorts, part 2 of 2, but this one is better than the first, enjoy Burners!!!

Long Over Due

Yes, truth be told I have had a rather busy week - been on a bit of a Perter Jackson kick as well - Honestly! I forgot just how great Braindead and Peter Jackson are. I think I can quite confidently state that this crazy little Kiwi is a true visionary. I am quite looking forward to Lovely Bones which I am imagining is going to be similar to Heavenly Creatures.
In the meantime folks, we will just have to settle for Braindead on Monday!!!
Quite excited to watch people squirm.
The shorts we have are great, our starter silent will be pure quality as well - so see you there!

In other news, as I mentioned before I saw and reviewed Paranormal Activity for the Quietus, well wait no more - my piece is up a bit delayed, but that was because the Quietus won the website of the year award Rock out with your cock out boys!!!
I know they will, they are off to ATP this weekend.
