Greetings, cinematic sinners…
We here at CBC Headquarters, are delighted to fill you in on a prize snippet of additional excitement for Monday’s shindig – we’re holding a raffle!
Yes, we know it sounds very OAP, but we also know that all of you have complete faith in us and our impeccable presentation abilities.
You lucky punters will have the chance to win:
A £10 Gift Certificate for Flashback Records, North London's finest record and DVD emporium, kindly donated by Mr. Mark Flashback himself, a lovely man, with lovely locks.
In all seriousness, Flashback has a fantastic selection of goods to aid in any sort of (legal) diversion you could ask for and constantly rotating stock means popping in for a weekly visit is pretty much obligatory.
Mark's DVD selection is bristling with the obscure and truly mind boggling... anyway... enough adverts... (sorry, I kind of like the place).
The big winner of the night will take away a year’s membership to the Dalston Rio Cinema. I can't rave enough about this place, seriously, if you haven't been to this gorgeous art deco theatre and watched a midnight film, you really should flog yourself as penance.
The year membership make you a Friend of the Rio and will provide you with the following perks –
* £1 off the price of a ticket (except discounted shows)
* 2 x complimentary tickets
* Mailing of our two-monthly programme leaflet and info on special events
* Plus some discounts at various places I can't be bothered to tell you about. There's a link, clicky click it.
Just aside from all that, the Rio shows an amazing array of independent films as well as the occasional midnight crowd blockbuster, Sunday Double Matinees (2 films for £8!). I recently saw Frankenstein and Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde (both 1931) there! Big screen! Fantastic! This is so exciting we can barely contain ourselves!
So, all that remains to be said is ‘Good Luck, Burners’, have a fabulous weekend and we’ll see ya Monday!
Much love, blood and weirdness,
The Cigarettes.
